Remodeling a bathroom is a process and takes a lot of time, effort, and knowledge before you start. Unless you do remodeling projects for a living and see these things in production every day, you probably don’t have any idea what to expect or consider when tackling this project but it is something that you will need to have some amount of knowledge on the subject. We have compiled some of our most important tips that you need to know before you start remodeling your bathroom.
1. Know what it will cost and know what you’re willing to spend
Lighting is such an important part of any room and it can make or break the design plan but it is also something that most people don’t think they need to plan out like the rest of their design. The best way to do it is to layer ambient, task, accent, and decorative lighting and it will give you the best, most well-rounded effect. It would be beneficial to your design plan if you plan out light placement.
2. Plan the lighting

3. Cover up your potty!
A lot of the time, the door to the bathroom will be left open which allows everyone to see inside. In the average bathroom the toilet is front and center which means that it is the first thing that you will see when you walk past or into the bathroom. A great bathroom design tip is to conceal the toilet in a hutch-style cabinet wall which will give the room a more spa-like, elegant feel while hiding the unattractive toilet.
4. Choose the right vanity
A vanity is more important than one might think and it’s not just for how it looks. If you choose one that is too small you will be wishing you had more counter space and if you choose one that is too large then it will take up a lot of the space in your bathroom. You will also need to focus on which materials work the best for this specific area of your house.
5. Splurge on a couple of high-quality items
If you are remodeling on a budget but still want your bathroom to have the high-end look to it you might want to consider buying two or three more expensive pieces that will bring the design together. This could be a more expensive vanity or a nice bathtub but whatever it is it should be a focal point in the room and should be something that draws the eye. This is a great way to bring in pieces that you love to a room while still keeping within your budget and saving some money during the renovation process.
